Well established on the New Zealand holiday scene "Pacific Rendezvous" is located in the heart of an exciting stretch of Northland coastline, just 30 minutes driving from Whangarei. Sited in a commanding position on a peninsula jutting out into the blue Pacific. The resort overlooks the whole of the Tutukaka Harbour with a breathtaking ocean panorama cross the deep sea fishing grounds from the historic Poor Knights Islands to the Hen and Chicken Islands. Nearby beaches at Whale Bay
Pacific Rendezvous's Secluded Beach Pedestrian access only. The walking track to the Harbour beach is located between units 19 and 20. The beach is safe for swimming at all stages of the tide. There is a pontoon to swim out to and moorings for the guest's small craft. It is possible to walk from one beach to the other around the rocks at low tide.
Pacific Bay is the next bay and can be reached either around the rocks from the Motel Beach, or a walking track at the entrance to the motel.
Matapouri Bay Ten minutes north from Tutukaka the visitor is welcome to peace and tranquility by the golden sands of Matapouri Bay. Nestled among bush-clad headlands, a magnificent half-moon shaped bay with the open ocean peeping through the entrance. Great surfcasting.
Whale Bay Only 1/2 km (by road) beyond Matapouri is a delightful walk through native bush reserve to Whale Bay, used by early Maori tribes during their whaling expeditions because of the calm waters. This bay and the bush walk is one of the most beautiful examples of coastal scenery
Sandy Bay 1.5 km further on is Sandy Bay, one of the most popular surfing beaches on Northland's east coast. There is always a good wave at Sandy Bay. In fact it usually has a wave at least a foot or two higher than most other beaches.
Trig Station Lookout Turn left at the end of Motel Road, then left into Dolphin Place, a few meters along on your right is the walking track, a short climb to the top for superb views up and down the coast.
Whangaumu Bay Locally known as Wellington's Bay, is at the end of Tutukaka Block road, turn left at the end of Motel Road. At the far end of the bay a walking track climbs the hill for a good view of the Ngunguru entrance and the sand spit. At low water you can walk to Ngunguru. Fishing from the rocks at both ends of the bay can be productive.
Tutukaka Reserve and Lighthouse Walk. The entrance to Tutukaka reserve is a short distance along the Matapouri Road, from the Tutukaka Store. You will need an outgoing tide to walk across the rocks to reach the lighthouse. The views are well worth the effort.
